Keeping the ball in play

The Euro Football

We tested the name of the official ball for EURO 2016 for a global sports brand. With a worldwide audience, this name had to be tested in 37 countries, for direct meaning, possible connotations and indirect cultural references.

The tournament would be broadcast to hundreds-of-millions of people. No chances could be taken with the name of the ball or it could have damaged credibility on a massive scale.

No matter what size your business or brand, we have you covered. From a simple dual language product to worldwide distribution, easybrandcheck can ensure your brand works – anywhere.

Mobile in strange places

A remote community

Mobile phones are very important in developing countries, often being the only access to both any form of phone and the internet.

We assisted a large telecom operator with screening names in various French speaking countries such as Madagscar, Mauritius, Reunion, Senegal, Martinique and Guadeloupe. Not only were the names screened for French, but also for various local languages such as Creole, Malagasy, Wolof.

No country is too small or too difficult. We’re experienced in finding linguists in almost every region and language.

Not only can we test brands in your requested country, we can advise on which countries share a language and where else your brand might travel.

Making sound choices

When converting a brand name to a language using a different script you can choose to get a phonetic translation of the original pronunciation. Our client requested phonetic translations of a list of brand names in various languages in non-latin scripts; such as Arabic, Chinese, Hebrew, Japanese and more.

This was a 3 stage project where we initially collected various options of phonetic ‘translations’. In the second stage the phonetic translation was offered to in-country validators to select the most assonant versions. In the last stage, the selected translations were tested for resemblance to the original pronunciation.

Since easybrandcheck have linguists in over 130 countries this was no problem. With over 1,500 linguists worldwide, we had plenty of people to help us make up the test groups.

We help even with the more unusual requirements of brand naming, to make sure your brands move to another country is smooth and successful.

Meeting deadlines fast

We are meticulous in detail, but that doesn’t mean we can’t turn things round quickly when we have to.

A well-known German car brand requested a name check. The project was submitted in the morning after a management meeting. The decision needed to be made that day, so our results had to be back by early afternoon for the next meeting. That was just four hours!

We tested and presented results for 12 countries through our custom built invitation, assigning and survey platform, returning them well within time to allow the company to make its decision.

If you have a job that needs a rapid response, we will make sure you meet your target without losing any of our attention to detail.

Underground oversight

The Mayor of Osaka wished to make the city a more globally recognised centre of commerce. This was to be achieved in part by rebranding the Osaka City High Speed Electric Orbital Co. Ltd. The new logo needed to be easily recognised by the thousands of internationally diverse visitors.

We tested this logo in all major languages and many non-Latin scripts to ensure there were no unwanted similarities with existing characters.

When testing brand names companies often focus on the words and overlook their logo. With so many other logos, symbols and signs in use within any country, avoiding an ‘image clash’ is just as important as using the perfect words.
